Slicing an orange video
Courtney and I created a video in Stop Motion, with an orange. We cut the orange in different spots to create a sliced effect, then we came up with the idea to stack and unstack the orange as a whole. Then we had to put the orange slices down and make them move around in a circle, to catch this effect we had to move the camera to focus on a different camera angle, which was diffucult. We had to make the end of the video similar to the beginning to do this we had to copy and paste the clips from the beginning to the end. After we created the video in Stop Motion we had to upload it in Windows Movie Maker which was a total process. Adding the opening slide and end slide was not diffucult, but uploading it to weebly was. If I could do anything different I would have done the ending slightly different, maybe creating more precise cuts to the orange making it form the whole orange better.
CLay Animation
I created a stop motion video using clay, making the clay do human actions. I first created the clay piece using dry clay with my hands, in order for the clay to stand I had to create bigger feet so it could stand and walk without falling over. Once that was done I made the clay man stand on the computer and slowly fall off, the concept was the crack in his leg. Doing this action involved me taking snap shots of each motion, making sure my hand was not in the picture. This then created a full video after many shots. Once I created the video I uploaded it in Windows Movie Maker and made a movie adding music, title, and production slides. If I was to do anything different I would make the clay man do something a little more creative.
2013 Graphics Reflection
Completing this Advanced Graphics class has taught me many things over the year. I took this course Sophomore year and it was fun and entertaining, I chose to take it again my Senior year because I work very well with hands on projects. People have different ways of learning and I learn easily from hands on projects, it helps me obtain information easily. I learned how to do everything from posters to movie making. We started off the year with the pancake breakfast poster that we had to create for the 9/11 tragedy that happened, then we learned how to use the marble tool and we created a poster and name design. I learned how to twirl in colors in Adobe Illustrator that I didn’t know how to do before. Making the design all swirl and twirl together is what created the marble effect. Our next project was two posters for Mrs. Nasiff, a penny social and silent auction. After that we went to Thayer Street for a field trip, I had a blast it was very fun. When we returned we had to do the activities from the Adobe Illustrator book. To draw the pencil shape you have to control the thickness and color of lines that you draw by setting stroke attributes, you had to draw shapes like polygons, spirals, and stars to make the pencil which I didn’t know how to do before this class. When I did the pear project I learned how to use the pen tool, it was very difficult but with the help of my teacher I learned it easily. I learned how to draw straight lines, use template layers, end path segments and split lines. I also learned how to draw curved lines when created the shape of the pear. I had to select and adjust curve segments that were the hardest part of this assignment. Next was the fish project, Mr. Adams gave us a set of measurements and with those we had to create a fish, I had to find the radius of a triangle and convert the measurements. In term two I learned how to use color swatches and palettes in Adobe Illustrator and that lets you modify, apply, and save colors of your own artwork. When I did the radio wave project I learned how to use the transparency feature in Adobe Illustrator. By using this you have to use the transparency palette. You also had to change the opacity of objects, use blending modes, and use group options for transparency. The hardest part was isolating the blending, for me this was difficult. I also learned how to work with layers and constructing them during this term. The projects that consisted of layers were the celebrity face, an animal, and a fish. We started off third term creating a drunken driving poster using abstract art and bold lettering that made the picture pop and grab the viewer’s attention. Next I had to create a self portrait using benday dots which was very hard. After that I had to create projects in Stop Motion. I created an orange and a clay project, making it a movie adding in title pages and music. After that I uploaded everything and created the best stop motion projects ever! I never knew how to create anything in Stop Motion, but with the help of my great teacher I learned just how to do it.
